Miss McKenna

McKenna is a February 14, 2008 16hh black Thoroughbred mare. She is registered as Many Little Kisses, out of Lasting Kiss by Matty G (5x leading sire for Washington State). As a yearling McKenna sold for $8,500 at the WA fall TB sale. She raced 23 times in Washington and Oregon between the ages of two and four, winning a little over $18,000 before being sent to an auction/feedlot.

A woman from southern Oregon bought her and gave her time off to gain weight and decompress before sending her to a reining trainer to be green broke. They knew McKenna was a jumping prospect and put her up for sale on Craigslist for $1500.  My barn owner saw the add and told me I needed her.  I wasn't in the market at the time (already having 2 horses) and told her that I'd take her as long as she was free and I didn't have to pay board. I was joking but my BO took it and ran with it.  She talked back and forth with the trainer and they agreed to send her up (she was 4hrs south of us) for free.  I was told my new horse would be arriving in three days and I didn't have to pay board.

At the start of this blog I've had her for 11 months, but am finally starting to really focus on her.  I've sold my show gelding and retired my older TB at a friend's house.  Having only one horse at the barn means it's all McKenna, all the time. My hope for McKenna is to eventually show the 1.0m jumpers, maybe higher if I don't chicken out.
